H2 Refuel Accelerator programme announces 2019 winners

Smart Energy International - June 25th, 2019

Shell, Toyota and NYSERDA-funded startups initiative which looks at measures on how to accelerate innovation in the hydrogen industry has announced its 2019 winners.

Fraunhofer TechBridge and Urban Future Lab have announced the winners of the H2 Refuel Accelerator programme.

The winners were announced at the New York University Tandon School of Engineering and Greentown Labs.

The six startups were found to be better innovators in enhancing the adoption of hydrogen infrastructure and supply chain technologies.

A total of 63 startups and programmes had applied to participate in the initiative.

The winners will have access to Greentown Labs and Urban Future Lab’s acceleration programmes and technical validation services.

The support will include access to testbeds and research and development mentorship until successful entry of technologies into the energy marketplace.

NYSERDA, through its ACRE Incubator, will provide funding to accelerate the commercialisation of these promising clean energy technologies in New York State.

The winners are:

Celadyne – Nanocomposite membranes for high-performance electrolyzers and fuel cells with simple heat and water management.
Ecolectro – Commercializing Alkaline Exchange Materials that make Electrolyzers and Fuel Cells less expensive and longer lasting.
Electro-Active Technologies – Renewable hydrogen from waste via a coupled bio-electrochemical process at high electrical efficiency.
HYGEN – Connected to regular gas grid HYGEN’s supercharger fuels your gas-powered vehicle at home/office in just a few minutes.
pH Matter – Catalyst materials and unique cell design that enables low-cost hydrogen generation for energy storage.
Protium Innovation – Lightweight liquid hydrogen tanks and fueling solutions for reliable hydrogen-electric vehicles.
Skyre – The world’s leader in converting waste H2 and CO2 into economic opportunity.
